Odin’s Ravens (Second Edition)

Odin’s Ravens is a great 2-player, turn-based strategy game with a little bit of luck. It’s a racing strategy game — cool! Odin’s Ravens, Huginn and Muninn, race every day over the world to return with news, but they head out in opposite directions — eventually travelling the same path as their counterpart, but in reverse order. The Ravens, with the help of Loki, try to speed across the landscape while thwarting the actions of the other. Using hand management and planning, you must out-fly your opponent to be the first back to the other’s starting terrain card.
Two draw decks: one deck is flight cards that match the landscape track (different with every game); the second deck is trickster cards from Loki. Lay flight cards that match the terrain to move forward, or one pair of matching cards to fly through any terrain card. Although the flight deck is recycled when out of cards, the Loki deck contains only one-time-use cards. Loki cards allow you to manipulate the landscape in a way that might support you, but slow your opponent. At the end of your turn, you draw 3 cards, up to 7 cards max. First one back to the other’s starting location wins.

Board Game Geek‘s Description:

Every morning Odin sends his ravens, Huginn and Muninn, across the entire world to bring back news of what life is like on Earth. Naturally, after thousands of years, they’ve gotten a little competitive. Race through the landscape in opposite directions to be the first to return to Odin. Focus on speed, or enlist the help of the trickster god Loki to create shortcuts and hinder your opponent. Can you be certain Loki’s changes won’t help your opponent instead? There’s only one way to find out!

The revised edition of Thorsten Gimmler’s award-winning Odin’s Ravens has been completely redesigned, with new rules and a beautiful new art style inspired by Norse mythology.
